Happy St Andrew's Day to all Scotsfolk...

wherever you may be.

For those who don't know, like St Patrick is to Ireland, St Andrew is the patron saint for Scotland (and a couple of other countries too, actually). If you're interested in finding out more about the saint, have a look here...

It's also a day when the already fiercly-partisan Scots celebrate the things we have contributed to the progress of mankind. Yes, you think you know of a few (telephone, whisky, tyres, penicillin and so on), but you'd be amazed at just how many more there are...things that contribute to all facets of life. Have a look here...

Anyway, to all Scots around the world, Happy St Andrew's Day...

"Wha's like us? Damn few, an' they're a' deid!"

Translation: "Who's like us? Damn few, and they're all dead!"

Doos is an Afrikaans word for both box or cunt. Thanks Wreckless!

Hey,

That was real fun to read. I married into a family of Scots. Been married to one for 22 years, it was our wedding anniversary yesterday. Asked him if he knew it was St. Andrews Day, patron saint of Scottsman. He did not have a clue of what I was talking about. I told him about your post. Still clueless. He said he will read it. My husband and his family are all big travellers as yourself. Take care!

Gee Divemaster,

You must have celebrated St.Andrews real hard this year. You've been absent for a while! Hic! :)

Hi A2Z...sorry, wish I could say I'd partied hard, but that's not the case. The sad truth is that I've been busy travelling and in some cases have had limited connectivity. Other cases I've been too busy. I'll post someting in the near future about what's been happening...promise... :-)
